I picked this building because of its architecture that creates the uniqueness. I also picked this because it was designed to create affordable housing and to illustrate the new lifestyle that people would live in in such crowded cities. One of the most interesting facts to me is that there is a garden equipped to each of the private houses which is very cool.

I picked this building because I feel that it is an aspect of education. The fact that it is a museum, it is a place where people learn about other things around the world. It was originally built for Expo '58. The monument was originally planned to stand there for six months. It received monument status and stayed on the former exhibition grounds for over 50 years. It is now one of Brussels' main attractions.

I picked this building because of the fact that the spheres connected together to form a unit cell. Sports/Action more details

PART 1 - Portfolios

1)

Video 1
Name of photographer - Nick Adams
General focus - Stories
List three problems  -out of focus, badly framed, common topics
List two things the judges like- Headless cheerleader, silhouette
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
This portfolio was boring because the topics were common and there was nothing interesting. I didn't like the first picture of the portfolio because it was nasty and disgusted!!

Video 2
Name of photographer - Jordan Murph
General focus -Sports & stories
3 Problems -several same topics (point of views), merger, some pictures were boring and stupid
2 things judges like - strong graphics, great compositions
I mostly like the sport photos because they had great compositions

Video 3
Name of photographer - Sam Adams
General focus -stories
3 probs - some bad compositions, too much photoshop in one picture, some pictures could've been better if there was action.
2 things judges like - upside down silhouette, simple shadow
Some of the pictures were boring and plain but the rest are pretty interesting.

Video 4
Name of photographer - Melissa Golden
General focus - Stories
3 problems - out of focus on motion, too much going on in a picture, some pictures are messy
2 things judges like -
nice portrait
I don't really like this portfolio because most of the story pictures are common topic. The one that I like most if a portrait of an old man's face.

2)  Winner  - Dustin Snipes
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?
-Compositions, colors, subject of the picture, action/motion in the picture, creativity,
What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?
The strengths that I see are he combined a lot of compositions in the photos and the pictures aren't boring because they have at least some motion in there. The weakness that I see is several pictures are common topic.

3) Deciding the winner process
First they go through all the picture portfolios again and make additional comments to which portfolio they could eliminate. They also discuss with each other about the good features and flaws as well about the pictures. Once they've come to the portfolio they feel the stronger, they go in more details about discussing about it.

PART 2 - Individual Images

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it.
The picture that I agree with the judges is on Part 2 video. The photographer captured the moment of a woman soccer player looks like shes screaming at the top of her lungs. It shows the intensity of a player when they made a goal. The composition is also neat.
2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong.
The picture that I disagree with the judges is the picture of a woman and a sumo wrestler on the escalators. I think they should have eliminated it because it's inappropriate and gross to show someone's butts!!!!!!!!!!!

Japanese Earthquake

I feel that this disaster has brought so much pain to the people in Japan. The feeling of losing family could tear them down and not knowing how their lives gona start again is gona be a bigger challenge to them.
I think cropping rule of photo compositions was in the picture.

I feel that this is such a sad scene because there could be more people waiting to be rescued under those houses that have been swept away. There probably be little kids finding their parents also. It is tragic that so many innocent people died from this disaster.
I think the photographer used balancing rule of photo composition. The rescue workers are balancing to the smoke

I feel that it is so sad that people are losing their houses and family. They would have no place to stay and everything that they have had was swept away. It is such a pain to start your life over with nothing.
I think the photographer used balancing because the houses are balanced to the ship.

Touching People

1. It's cool because you get to explore what's new out there and it's kind of weird at the same time because in the pictures, most of the people don't look comfortable at all. You can't even see the connection between them through these pictures even though they are strangers. But a picture would look better if there's a little emotion in it. Like you could actually feel something by looking at the picture.

2. I would feel awkward because obviously I don't know the stranger and why would I touch them. But I would still participate just to be nice :)

3. An unusual photo shoot that would be fun to shoot is taking pictures of seashells at the beach.

4. I think he wasn't really focusing on the rules of photo composition because all of the pictures look the same.

Advertising Blog

I like this advertiser because it looks incredibly creative. They use hands to create this master piece but you can't really see the hands. It's hard to identify that they are hands.

I would buy an AT&T phone because the way they advertise their products is cool, attractive and it would capture the consumers' attentions.

The fetus became widely recognized after LIFE published Linnart Nilssons photograph of an 18-week-old fetus inside the womb on its April 30, 1965 cover. Swedish photographer Nilsson used an endoscope with an electronic flash to capture both the cover picture and pictures appearing inside the magazine to chronicle the beginning of human life. These pictures are part of Nilssons book, A Child is Born, which sold eight million copies in the first four days after publication.

Portrait and self-portrait tips and ideassssssss

My best tips:
  1. Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.
  2. Use a tripod. Seriously. While it’s possible to get good photos while you’re hanging on to your camera at arms-length, it’s a lot easier if you’ve got the freedom to move around a bit.
  3. Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.
Environmental Portraits:
What i like about this picture is the background and the place of the picture was taken. It looks very fresh and relaxing. I could imagine what the feeling would be laying down on the beautiful grass. I like how this picture make me feel. Its just very green and it makes me happy :]

What i like about this picture is everything about it. It's simplicity and a sense of nature. I also love how the picture was taken during sunset. It looks beautiful and flawless. It looks like the giraffe is waiting for the sun to come down and enjoying the moment.

Photography self portrait:

I like this picture because it looks like it was taken naturally. Like the women didn't have to set it up or anything. She probably just passed by and snapped it. It's a cool picture and it looks like someone took it from above but its actually just the reflection of the person taking it.

I like this picture because it looks very mysterious. It brings me the curiosity of how the picture was taken. It also looks scary at the same time. The loneliness of the street gives me chills and the girl looks like shes flying or something. Its a very cool picture

Casual portrait:

This picture gives me a feeling of family love. I really like this picture because it would make you smile by just looking at it. The picture looks so simple but yet shows a sense of love and being together is happiness.

I really like this picture because of the couple, the scene and the perfection of the picture. There's some kind of emotional feelings that this picture brings to me and I think it's love because the couple is walking together happily hand in hand. There's no worry look on their face because they are enjoying the moment that they're together. The background of the picture is beautiful. It is filled with sunshine and relaxation.

My plan for the portrait assignment:
My plan for the portrait assignment is I am going to take a portrait of my friend Ashley. The place that I want to take the picture would be somewhere near grass or on the grass and the sky as part of my background as well. Before taking the picture, I will make sure that I know which rules of photo composition to focus in order for my picture to come out the way I want it to be and also good quality.

Welcome Back Blawwwggg!

I like this photo because of the appearance of the little kid holding on to his father. This picture gives me a lot of emotions. The look on his face seems like he's very scared or maybe he's afraid that if he lets go of his father's hand, he will be gone. The way his eyes look totally change the appearance of this picture as a whole. It gives more emotional feelings toward the audience.

This is a beautiful scenery that caught my full attention. I think it's the colors that give it a sense of unique and very complex. It also looks very sophisticated by the architecture of the buildings and all the lights.

I think this picture is very cool. It is simple but the photographer captured a posture that makes the picture very special and unique as well. The reflection makes the picture even more catchy and it digs the curiosity of the audience.

1. What was the best song of 2010?
-To me, the best song of 2010 is Just the way you are by Bruno Mars.  It is the best song because it is a very meaningful song. I love the lyrics from the point of view of a guy, how he looks at his lover. I just love the way this song gives me the emotional feelings. I think this song deserves to be the best song of 2010 because it is appropriate for everyone and the story could apply to anyone :)
2. What was the best movie of 2010?
-The best movie of 2010 would be Step Up 3 because it's an amazing movie. The movie was awesomely amazing with all the dance moves come along with a love story. I think it is a very cute movie as well. It is also an inspirational movie. Those who love to dance should really watch this movie because it inspires you. The movie is also great in another way such as its technology, how they put together all the moves, details in the movie, etc.

3. What was the most important news story of the year?
-I think the most important news story of 2010 would have to be Haiti Earthquake. It is important because it had caused so many damages and injuries to the people and mostly a huge number amount of people that died. It brought grieves and sorrows to so many people in the country. It is also pathetic for the people who lost their families or have people in their family died. I think it is an event that people should remember and put in mind that they should appreciate for what they have because there are people out there who have nothing at all.

4. Who was the most important person of 2010?
-I think the most important person of 2010 would have to be President Barack Obama because he is the leader of our country. He's been trying to do his best to give us peace and to bring what us people deserve to have. President Obama is the one who takes care of our country. We should be appreciative toward his actions for our country. Without him, there would be no one to lead this country and things would go wrong because he is the current president.

1. Tell me what is the one thing that happened on your holiday that you will remember? It can be a trip, a family visit, a present, something fun.
-One thing that I will remember is when everyone in my family include my cousins were counting down to my birthday. I was very appreciative for their presence on my most important date. I will be very grateful for what they have done to be. I think that is the only event that is worth remembering in my whole entire year of 2010.
